During my PhD I study the mechanisms involved in population’s genetic divergence and more particularly in the formation of genomic islands of differentiation. The european sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) is a good model for the study of the speciation process. In fact, this species is divided in two divergent evolutionary lineages represented by the Atlantic and Mediterranean populations, which exchange genes in a hybrid zone. This hybridization reveals the regions resistant to introgression and therefore containing isolating loci.
